If you're one of the countless people who are excited about the latest model year, read on for an in-depth exploration of the 2024 RAV4's various configurations and features.

2024 Toyota RAV4 Overview

The RAV4 line is famous for its dependability and excellent performance across multiple facets. As of 2016, both hybrid and fully gas-powered versions have been available. The 2024 iteration will be the sixth in the current fifth generation of RAV4s, which is characterized by a slightly wider body, a more rugged appearance, and greater accelerating power compared to the previous generation. These characteristics and others make the RAV4 popular among a wide range of demographics, including students, young professionals, active couples, small families, and senior drivers.

Trim Levels and Key Features of the 2024 Toyota RAV4

There is a broad selection of trims across three separate model lines of the 2024 Toyota RAV4: the standard gas-powered RAV4, the RAV4 Hybrid, and the RAV4 Prime. Below, we discuss the starting price point and key features of each trim level.

Gas-Powered RAV4

The gas-powered RAV4 is available in six trims:

  • LE ($28,475): The base trim comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), though all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. Other standard features include an 8-inch center touch screen, LED projector headlights, the Toyota Safety Sense suite, and a trial of Toyota's Safety Connect service for up to 10 years.
  • XLE ($29,985): The next level up is also FWD as standard but available in AWD. In addition to those included in the LE, the key features of the XLE are dual-zone automatic climate control and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
  • XLE Premium ($32,875): This trim is, again, FWD as standard, but AWD is available, and the XLE Premium boasts higher-quality materials and more luxurious touches than the XLE. These include chrome-finished bezels on the LED headlights, SofTex-trimmed seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat (plus available two-position memory settings), a power moonroof, and a smart key system for the front doors and liftgate.
  • Adventure ($34,670): If you want off-road capability, the Adventure trim is for you. It features Toyota's Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD (TV-AWD) system, which actively distributes torque between the front and rear axles, as well as a 120V/100W AC power outlet in the cargo area.
  • TRD Off-Road ($38,095): The TRD Off-Road trim is another off-road-capable RAV4 but with higher-end features, including a TRD-tuned independent strut front suspension and multilink rear suspension with stabilizer bars and a 10.5-inch center touch screen.
  • Limited ($36,780): The Limited trim has many of the top features included in other trim levels, with the addition of LED low- and high-beam headlights with LED DRL accent lights and turn signals. You also have a choice between FWD and TV-AWD.

RAV4 Hybrid

The 2024 RAV4 Hybrid comes in the following trims:

  • Hybrid LE ($31,475): The base hybrid trim comes standard with Electronic On-Demand AWD, low-profile black roof rails, LED projector headlights, an 8-inch center touch screen, Toyota Safety Sense, and up to 10 years of Safety Connect.
  • Hybrid XLE ($32,985): The Hybrid XLE adds to the LE's standard features with chrome-finished bezels on the headlights, integrated fog lights, a smart key system, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
  • Hybrid SE ($34,170): The Hybrid SE includes sporty blue stitching, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and a 10.5-inch touch screen to the list of standard features.
  • Hybrid Woodland Edition ($34,695): The Woodland Edition is a stylish looker with Woodland all-weather floor mats, a Woodland all-weather cargo liner, and bronze-colored flow-formed alloy wheels.
  • Hybrid XLE Premium ($35,875): With the Hybrid XLE Premium, you get all of the standard goodies of the XLE with the addition of SofTex-trimmed surfaces, memory settings for the power-adjustable driver's seat, and a power moonroof.
  • Hybrid XSE ($37,135): The Hybrid XSE sets itself apart with a two-tone exterior, a sport-tuned suspension, and vertical LED accent lights.
  • Hybrid Limited ($39,780): The Hybrid Limited tops off the hybrid range with 18-inch dark metallic-finished wheels and an AWD integrated management system with a multi-information display.

RAV4 Prime

The RAV4 Prime is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, sometimes known as a PHEV, that comes in two trim levels:

  • SE ($43,440): The key features of the base-level RAV4 Prime include an 8-inch multimedia display, a 7-inch digital multi-information display, LED low- and high-beam headlights with LED DRL accent lights and turn signals, and the Toyota Safety Sense suite. The drivetrain is Electronic On-Demand AWD.
  • XSE ($47,310): The XSE ups the value with a 10.5-inch multimedia display, a 12.3-inch digital multi-information display, paddle shifters, and SofTex-trimmed seats.

Powertrain and Performance of the 2024 Toyota RAV4

Under the hood of every gas-powered 2024 Toyota RAV4 is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. With a zero-to-60 mph time of around 8 seconds, the latest RAV4 is slightly quicker than the outgoing model. The FWD LE, XLE, and Limited trims are the most fuel-efficient at 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The two AWD off-roaders are less efficient but still get 25 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway.

As for the RAV4 Hybrid, the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine gets assistance from dual electric motors for a total power output of 219 hp. It's quicker than its gas-powered counterpart, capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in a little over 7 seconds. The EPA-estimated fuel economy is 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

The RAV4 Prime tops them all. Its dual electric motors, more powerful than the Hybrid's, assist a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to produce 302 combined hp — good enough to get you to 60 mph in under 6 seconds. The fuel economy is also improved, at 38 mpg combined, a 94 MPGe rating, and an all-electric range of 42 miles.
